The SR‑Si Soiling Measurement System monitors dust accumulation using a pair of photovoltaic reference devices — a clean reference cell (Clean Device) and a soiled reference cell (Soiled Device).
The system integrates a monocrystalline‑silicon standard reference cell for solar radiation absorption. Its sensor adopts a silicon‑based structure whose spectral response and tilt characteristics closely match those of actual photovoltaic modules, enabling accurate simulation of how dust buildup affects photoelectric conversion efficiency.
By measuring the short‑circuit current and operating temperature of the reference cells, the system calculates a dust‑soiling index (SR value) in accordance with the international standard IEC 61724‑2021.
The SR value ranges from 1 (fully clean) to 0 (fully soiled), indicating the cleanliness level of the module surface. The system provides real‑time, quantitative soiling data to help O&M teams develop data‑driven cleaning plans.
With this system, solar‑plant operators can move beyond subjective visual assessments and accurately determine when and where cleaning is required, achieving a reasonable balance between power‑generation efficiency and cleaning costs, thereby improving overall operational performance and investment returns.
